ABOUT

DePIE is a web-based primer design tool. It was initially developed to design primers for the yeast two-hybrid assays, but can be applied into any other assays as long as the primers are needed.

This program was developed by Guoqing Lu, Michael Hallett, Stephanie Pollock, and David Thomas in McGill Centre for Bioinformatics, University of McGill, and Bioinformatics Core Facility(BCF), University of Nebrask-Lincoln.

DePIE can be run on local PCs, which is the first version released in August, 2002. A web version was implemented in February, 2003, and installed on the biocore server at BCF. At this stage, DePIE takes as input only the NCBI protein accessions. It is expected to extend DePIE to be able to accept accession numbers of other biological databases, e.g., EMBL and SWISS-PROT, nucleotide sequences, and peptide sequences.

The DePIE team thank Bin Ge, Kaleigh Smith, Michelle Scott for helpful discussions and suggestions. We thank The Nyguan, Yavuz Yavuz, and Qiaomei Zhong for their help in making DePIE accessible on the web. The support from Genome Quebec (http://www.genomequebec.com/) is gratefully acknowledged.
